Start here: this week

Search the course from your assistant

One URL gives your assistant the whole published course. No key, no login, and nothing to install or clone:

https://mcp.geckovision.tech/course/mcp

It is a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP). Your assistant gets three tools that search and read the same pages you read on the course site.

It only serves what is published to students. No quizzes, no solutions, no instructor material. If a week has not been published, it is not there.

Connect it

In Claude Code, run this once, in any folder:

claude mcp add --transport http dev3pack-course https://mcp.geckovision.tech/course/mcp

Then start claude and type /mcp. You should see dev3pack-course in the list.

Using something else? Connect any assistant has a copyable snippet for Claude on the web, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex, VS Code, Windsurf, Gemini CLI and any client that only speaks stdio, plus the plain-text addresses for an assistant with no MCP at all.

The three tools

Tool What you give it What comes back
search_course query, your question in plain words. Optional limit, 1 to 10. Passages. Each hit has page_id, title, heading and text.
read_course_page a page_id from a hit the whole page
list_course_pages optional prefix, for example units/en/unit3 every page id and title under it

A page_id is the page's path in the course repository, without the file ending. units/en/unit3/session-11-state-and-memory/concepts-3 is the page units/en/unit3/session-11-state-and-memory/concepts-3.mdx in your clone. You can open it, so you can check what your assistant told you.

An empty result is an answer

When search_course finds nothing, it returns no hits and this note:

no passage in these pages matches; the course may not cover this yet

That means the published course does not cover it. It is not an error, and it is not a reason to guess. Tell your assistant to say "the course does not cover this" and stop there. You can then decide to look somewhere else, knowing that what you find did not come from the course.

What to ask your assistant to do

Paste this once at the start of a conversation, or use the ask-the-course skill in your course folder, which says the same:

Answer course questions with the dev3pack-course tools. Search first. Cite the page_id of every passage you use. If the search comes back empty, say the course does not cover it, and do not answer from your own knowledge.

Two rules still apply here, as everywhere in the course:

The other ways to ask the course

Give the course to your assistant has four more: the Telegram bot, coach() in a notebook, a terminal command, and a local MCP server that reads your own clone. Use the local one when you want answers from exactly the weeks in your folder. Use this one when you want nothing to install.
